Changing the carpet [Archive] - Sussex Scoobies

How long do you think this should take? Paul (Fulham71) reckoned about 30 minutes, Powerstation 3 hours. Any advance on three hours?

About 2-3 hours from start to finish!

Fitted a blue new age STI carpet to my classic in about that.

Front seats out
Base or rear seat out
Centre consol (around/behind handbrake) out
Gear stick surround out or at least loose
Sill covers off
Then remove all the press clips that keep it in place :)

"Refitting is the reverse of removal" ;)

havent taken mine out totaly but had every thing else out and back in and back out!

2-3 hours mine had to come out for my hifi wiring to be put in it was a pain in the a**e, luckily my mate is a stereo installer so i used his skills, but it still took that long

Pauls about spot on :thumb: more like 1 hour with two people. He helped me fit my spec c carpet and seats in my new age. Just dont rush it.

Yes mate but there is only about six screws, couldnt believe how easy it was after owning a golf mk4 where theres hundreds of the sodding things:rolleyes: . The hardest part was the side mouldings

Are these the ones around the bottom of the door? They seem just to have one fixing.

Are all the clips a push fit, not screw-in?

It was about may this year so ive got to get my brain in gear(I am getting old:cuckoo:) . I will have to look at mine again, but from the photos your centre consol dos'nt look the same as my 03 . I know the door cards have changed. I will have a look.

Hope this helps. You need to remove your gear knob and boot. Here you should find 3 screws, remove these. Next you should find two more screws in your centre consol box(the nice flip top one for putting sweets and stuff in:) )and fingers crossed and that yours is the same, the centre consol comes out:thumb:.
Like i said before, be carefull as the plastic scratches very easy(as i found out:( )
