What year car?

Instructions for single pistion sliding calipers (All classics except STI type r and some late STI's).

I'll take it you you can jack the car and remove the wheel ;)

You will need:
12mm socket/spanner
14mm socket and long rachet or bar/spanner
Flat blade screwdriver
Copper mallet (a hammer and peice of would do if you have too)
Wire brush
Copper grease

Jack the car and remove the wheel. Make sure the handbrake is off

With the screwdriver push the pads back (away from the disc).
Remove the 2 12mm bolts that hold the caliper to the holder/bracket.
Remove the pads (they should just pry away from the disc face).
Remve the 2 14mm bolts holding the bracket to the hub (might be quite tight) :)

If the disc doesn't tap off with the hammer you will need to back the handbrake shoes off.
Behind the back plate (where the driveshaft goes into the hub) ;)
There is a small oval rubber grommet. Pull this out.
Behind the grommet there should be a cog. Through the hole with the screwdriver push the cog downwards (I think) untill the disc is free.
Try to remember the number of times you wound the cog down :)

Pull the disc off and clean the matting surface with the brush and appy a little copper grease to the surface.
Clean the new disc of any oil film and refit.
Refit the bracket and the caliper with pads in.
Smear a little copper grease on the edge and back of the pads.

Do not get grease on the disc or pad surface!!!

now push the cog back to where it was and try to smin the disc.
If it is tight back the cog off a little. Check the handbrake stops the disc from rotatating when pulled up :)

Once both side have been done.
Pump the brake pedel before driving off

If you are not confident after reading this seak a profesional ;)

You may not have to back the handbrake off.
On the disk hub face there are 2 threaded holes.
Screw a suitable bolt into these holes. As you tighten the bolts it will draw the disk off the hub.
If you have no joy with this then you 'WILL' have to back off the handbrake as detailed above.

You may also have to back off the handbrake to fit the new disks as there internal diameter may be a little less then the old ones.
You can however, do this from the front by adjusting the same cog, and keep trying to slide the disk onto the hub.
A little resistance is good, you don't want the disk to just fall back on or the handbrake will need adjusting from the rear of the hub once re-assembled.
