please excuse my sutpidity but can you put in a panel filter AND an induction kit? I keep hearing induction kits often mess things up, How hard are panel filters to put in? will get my mechanic to put it in but dont want him charging the earth for a million hours labour if its tricky, does it replace something or is it just an added feature?

many thanks

To change the panel filter is a very long job :haha: :haha: :haha:
If you blink you will miss it !
Two clips on the air box lift the top half of the box pull out old filter , slide in new one and clip back together .:thumb: :thumb:
If your still not sure buy one and bring it to a meeting and i'll or someone will help !
and its either panel or induction .

if its a green filter you get, then you will have to trim off some lugs on the filter to get it to fit snug. there are instructions in the box relating to this.

a lot of people say dont put an induction kit in,but i own a 03 ppp wrx and have fitted a blitz sus kit into mine and replaced the corragated rubber pipe with a steel mill angled pipe with samco hoses and i love it!!!!!!! the sound the feel, and my car never runs warm so it feels the same in hot or cold weather.didnt change anything or play up the maff.will let you see at the next meet

A panel fiter is just that - A flat filter that replaces the std one in the airbox. Aftermarket panels claim to flow more air and increase the filtration level (further protecting your engine) :)

Inductiion kits are generally a cone shaped filter that replaces the airbox.
They should come with brackets to suport the filter and a coupling hose to fit to you original pipe/MAF.

Induction kits "should" flow more air because they are removing the restriction of the airbox, but in practice you would have to be making big power before you NEED an induction kit.
MY99 on cars are recommended to stick to the panel filters due to the fragile MAF sensor fitted after MY98 :(

You can inprove the air flow by replacing the corrigated rubber pipe after the air box with a smooth bore pipe like Simon has :D
