Hi
Remove the front fixing bolt which is located at the wheel end of the trim.
Losen the other fixings along the back of the trim, cant remember if there are 2 or 3. You can then slide the trim of its fixings.
As the fixings are at the back of the trim they get clogged with muck and may very well need cleaning up.
I hope this helps, its a bit tricky to explain.

Just a warning...Everyone I have tried to remove has sheared the bolts off!

Not sure how your going to remove the paint as paint stripper might damage the plastic
You might be better just repainting them properly :)

go for it, its not that hard. just go careful with the plastic fixings of the inner wheel arch.

and gently with the bolts.

Sorry the comment I made was for the rear bumper trims!
They do come off but you might shear off the fixing bolts doing it. New nut plates are available from Subaru to slide into the trims and std M8 bolts to hold them to the car.

The side skirts will come off :)
5 x 10mm bolts on the underside of the sills, a couple of clips/bolts in the arch and they should slide off :D
I think the front half slides forwards and the rear backwards. Only need to slide them about 20-30mm and they should fall off the fixings.
The plastic fixings are available from Subaru pretty cheaply if you break them ;)

they pull out, not slide , once the underside bolts are off
there are small clips that go into the sills.
just go gentel.

I think the outer part of the clip slides into the sill cover ;)
