Dear Dyney,
Since I bought my other half a Subaru Sport at the weekend she has been quiet.
On the purchase it came with a STI7 back box section but not to sure if it will fit onto the Sports mid section and if the hangers will allow the STI7 box to well........hang? Could this be a problem as we both cannot hear the burble.
Please help me make up my mind. Will she love me again to hear the sound?
Steve aged 26.
I'm not sure if it will fit either.
I suspect the bore of the std Sport system is smaller than the Turbo/WRX/STI one, so you may have problems with the distance between bolt holes :(
Only way to know is to try it.
The rear hangers should fit fine.
The front hanger will face the wrong way for a classic, but some of the aftermarket manufacturers don't fit a front hanger, so I would just cut it off incase it touches ;)
If it doesn't fit straight on and if you don't mind cutting the pipes on both. Then it might be worth looking for an exhaust reducer 2.5" - 2" (or whatever the sport system is).
Then cut the sport box off on the straight before the box. Fit the reducer and cut the STI pipe so the tail sits at the right length under the rear bumper.
Hey presto!! An STI exhaust on a sport that no-one else has :D

Cheers Dyney mate. Legend.
So if I have got this right. The sti back box pipe leading to the mid section pipe is 2.5" wide and the sport mid section is 2.0" wide?
So in this case I'd need to cut the sti back box pipe down by 3" in and fit a flange that is 2.0" inside the back box? The new flange plus new gasket go onto the mid section pipe?
Is that right? I've been told by her in doors that it cannot be too loud or it will wake the baby. I have Vortex Afterburner system on mine hence why one needs to be quiet for Jr.
How many people have got the Sti BB's on then? Thought this was a common for sports?
Steve
I have a WR Sport box if you want something a little quieter and you would get a good price for your probox pm me if your interested
I'm not sure what the bore of the Sport system is. You'll have to measure it.
I was using 2" as an example :)
It may bolt straight on, but I expect 2.5" would be too big for a NA 2.0 engine.
Errrrr...not sure what your saying
Use the Sport flange on the mid pipe.
Cut the sport box off and fit bit of pipe that flares (opposite to a reducer IYSWIM) from whatever size the Sport pipe is to 2.5"
Cut the flange off the STI box and fit it into the 2.5" side of the flare pipe.
Then use 2 x exhaust "U" clamps to hold it all together :)
