Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I have a couple of things comping for my scooby soon and the bodyshop i went to for quotes on spraying said i could cut down big time on labour costs if they were already primed, unfortunatley the bits i have coming arent.

How would i go about priming them? is it difficult? ive seen primer spray in halfords,is it simply spraying a couple of layers of it on as undercoat for the paint?

many thanks

basically yes

but the issue is that the paint job will only be as good as the base that it goes on. so if the primer is not perfect then it will show through.

another issue is if the surfaces arent flat and they need a bit of sorting.

hard question to answer but i'd let them do it.

As with most painting around the house or on the care, for the best results time needs to be spent preparing the surfaces.

the garage is probably aware that alot of fibreglass products are of very poor finish and need quite a bit or sorting/preperation before the top coats go on. Hence why they asked you to do it.

Personally, I'd use another paintshop thats willing to earn their money.

Agree! If you prime it, they paint it then the paint flakes off in 2 months they will just say you didn't prime it propperly
