ive just gone and got myself a set of ultra afterburner rear lights, but i was wondering if they pass an mot as they have no reverse light in them.Is the reverse light a requirment on the new mot?

also do the leds give out enough light for reversings as where i live it can be very dark if the moon aint out.
i dont want to fit them and find out that i need a reverse light for mot's..

thanks for any help

Are you sure they don't have a reversing light?
The 2 rear lamps have a clear centre. I assume the outer one is an indicator and the inner one is the reverse/fog light

Dyney you are correct in what you say about these lights, they don't have a fog light but my wrx is an import so it has a seperate fog anyway, I MOT'd mine with the lights on and had no problems at all, the brake light and normal lights are the led's and they are very bright the reverse light is the same as the normal light for brightness.

Thanks Brad.

Scoobyworld sell these lights and state all their lights meet MOT standards and are E approved :)

well i guess they screwed up on mine as the outer is the indicator, the inner clear bulb holder holds a red bulb and is the brake.I put the car in reverse and nothing lights up.And i also ordered the newer type which have changeable leds and they sent the old sealed type.

they should have sent these ...Im gonna phone them tomorrow and get that sorted.
fingers crossed they sort it

brad can you take a pic and post it of your reverse lights on ?????

I would assme the red buld is a fog, but it should be on the drivers side.
It will need to be on the drivers side for the MOT.

Where is the reversing light?

the reverse light is in the right hand light and the fog is on the passenger side one..im gonna look in the morning to see if the pods are interchangeable???

I expect you can swap the holders/bulbs over :)

ok got it all sorted, the numpty's that put the lights together had the fog on the left and reverse on the right. As i have an import i already have afoglight on the bumper. For all you folks out there that have bought these they can be made to have 2 reverse lights very very easily...
just look at the way the pins are set in the light that has reverse already set up ,goto to the other light and move the pin red/white wire to the same position as the you other side...hey presto 2 reverse lights...

i would do away with one revers light and lose your extra fog

car would look so much cleaner from th back

my import has had a reverse light changed to a fog it always passes the mot and cant say i have a proplem reversing

Had the same done to mine and had no probs with mot either.
Doesn't affect my reversing as cant see nothing through tinted rears at night anyway

Ive got tints and I gree that you can't see a thing at night, the other problem I have is the reverse lights aren't working anyway :2ponder:

I never knew you could change these lights to suit i.e fog/reverse very good idea, Not sure if mine will do that as I bought them as soon as they were released so mine are probly an older version. Anouther thing how would the fog know to come on the fog anyway there is no switch for it, I have a serperate switch fitted for my fog,

You have to use the wiring that currently goes to your seperate fog light
