View Full Version : Check Engine light
Hi, Just fitted an Apexi Power Intake, but now the CHECK ENGINE light is on, any idea why its on?
Have you disconected any plugs or pipes when fitting?
Do you have a pic of the installation? :)
Yeah, disconnected a few, will get a pic when it stops raining!

Apexi Power Intake - 95 WRX
Where does the pipe coming out of the ali intake pipe go to?
Is there a split in the big pipoe coming from the ali pipe?
I take it the Lambda sensor is still plugged in? (grey plug bottom of pic)
Sort of clutching at straws really :(
Where abouts are you?
Im in Redhill - 1 of the Surrey lot.
Will check all the pipes later

Nah it doesnt. connect the 2 black connectors under the dash and read the flash pattern. that'll give you the error code. then look it up. IIRC it flashes slow for first number then faster for 2nd. havent done it in a long time as dont have the oem ECU any more.

i couldnt believe it when my light came on and it was just the speedo cable loose :cuckoo:
Error code 44. Found 2 different things, dont know what either of them mean.
44 Wastegate Duty Solenoid
44 Turbocharging Pressure Control Signal

I think both of those relate to the boost solenoid.
you can see it in your 1st pic JUST above the red arrow. big cylindrical thing with 3 pipes coming off it (one at the top very evident)
and is the think i think your are saying that pipe conencts to.
i'd check the electrical connection to that.
then, if thats ok and its still showing a CEL, reset the ECU (as described on that link) and see if it comes back on. If it does, i think a) might be faulty b) broken wire somewhere.
another test - if crack the throttle just a bit open from idle and listen under the bonnet, it should be ticking (stick a screwdriver on it and then put it to your ear if you're not sure).
Steve
Reset the ECU but light is still on.
The solenoid in on the inner wing that i smashed, i may have done something then, and changing the induction kit may have finished it off
Off to Jap Performance tomorrow to try a few bits.
Thanks Steve & Dyney, will let you know what happens

check its ticking thogh, as thats all it does ;)
Many thanks Dyney & Duck. Finally cured it. It was the boost solenoid.
Thanks again, will buy you both a drink at a meet soon.
Did you have the pipes the wrong way round on the boost sol?

No, just a dead solenoid. Now running at 1.2 bar!
