Hi Dyney,
When you looked at my car last Fri when I called in Mikes we talked about sports cats.I've looked on Scoobyworld and they have a Ninja downpipe with fast flow cat,£299.99.They reckon a new age Impreza will pass the mot(Controle Technique in my case) with just this cat. Therefore I guess I could also purchase a Afterburner Cat Pipe (£105) which joins with centre section to replace centre cat. What do you think.
Thanks,Terry:nod:

The Jury is out a bit on these.

I know of cars that have passed, including mine after I made some minor tweaks to the ECU map.
But I also know of some that have failed and some dealers that have seen a number of failures.

Mine was so marginal that I took it back off and went back to a decat, as I could feel the performance difference at the top end compared to the decat I had before.

My opinion is, until there are alot more options on the market and the units have been through a few MOT's succesfully I'm gonna stick with the decat.

As Scott has said his "just" passed.

I don't know how stringent the Controle Technique is in France. If it's simalar to the UK you should be OK.
The Cat has a 12 month warrenty, but I would get it fitted a few weeks before your test so if you have a problem you can send it back.

I haven't tested one so I can't say either way.
It would be the next logical step in tuning your car.

Thanks for the input.Scoobyworld say that the Ninja downpipe sports cat can pass the MOT with just this cat.Non standard? need to retain centre cat. They have an MOT result sheet on their website but I can't make sense of it.Is their anybenefit in fitting the Ninja, but retaining the centre cat.

they have a results sheet yes, but it has no rpm input i.e the rpm was over-riden manually. So those figures could of been taken at any rpm not the required idle and fast idle (between 2700 and 3200 IIRC).

I'm not saying it's fudged as mine did go through but it was very close.

Thanks for that.Is yours the Scoobyworld Ninja sports cat and do you still have the centre cat?Do you know if their is any benefit in fitting the sports cat, but retaining the centre cat.Once again thanks for you input:thumb:

Yes, Ninja
centre cat would help, but if you get it hot enough you can get an MOT pass with just the centre anyway.
