View Full Version : remaps
If i take the manual boost controller of my car will it upset the map it has on it.
Thanks
James :)
Has the car been remapped with the boost controller fitted?
What boost is the controller set to?
Yeah it was and its mapped at 1 bar
Dave at Gatwick was telling me to get it taken off and its booked in for a service next week so was gonna get then to do it if its not gonna cause any probs
If it's been mapped for it then leave it on.
Dave probably thinks it's not been remapped for it.
Hardly going to be a warrenty issue ;)
Well not with Subaru :D
If you really want it off then it should be fine to reconnect the std boost solenoid, but obviously the boost and therefore power will be reduced :(
Wouldn't your STi V be running 1 bar (or more) anyway.
A standard UK is just under 1 bar on the standard map / boost controller
If you let me know your ECU code I may be able to tell you what the standard map is doing.
Ive been told they run 1.2 bar but im not sure, when i get a min i'll see if i can find the ECU code thanks Scott
Its been EcuTec'd but im not sure of the mapper :2ponder:
Thanks

why do you need if off ? what are Dave's reasons ?
should be running ~1.1 bar if still on stnd VF28
i dont see any reason to take it off, unless its got a new engine from them and is warenteed for X miles and so should be 100% standard.
if its been mapped with the controller there, then i would have hoped the mapper would have put 1.0bar and a totally flat duty cycle in the ecu - so it would work but probably be crap at controlling it and not wonderful spool etc.
Steve
Its got a VF29 on it :)
I just hate having it under the bonnet in full view and just worry that at shows this year anyone could just twist the valve on it if i leave the bonnet open :susp:
If it will need a remap again i'll wait til i get one later next month :thumb:
Im not sure why Dave thought it was better to have it off, he just said he would take it off
can't see why it would have one if it's been ecutek'd
boost control in a ecutek ecu is spot on and has alot more control/options then most aftermarket dedicated electronic boost controllers, even better with a 3-port solenoid

now makes sense... its a manual boost controller. Does help if you read the post properly !
thats why he's saying take it off :p
BTW It's not an STI Scott
It's a Ver5 WRX RA :)
Yes Steve, I don't think Dave approves of them ;)
