When I turn on the ignition switch "check engine" light doesn't illuminates and I wondering if someone can switch it off after re-map the ECU or de-cat the exhuast system ?

I need to know this before i remove the instruments panel to check the bulb's etc

The CEL (Check Engine Light) can be removed in remapping, but I'm not sure if it can be turned off altogether :2ponder:
Normally the ECU perameters are reset for a certain sensor so it doesn't bring on the CEL.
EG. De catting the exhaust will bring on the CEL due to the "cat on fire" sensor, but when remapping the ECU it told this is not a fault so don't turn the CEL light on :)

Or that is as I understand it. Scott or JGM might be able to go into it further.

Did the light used to come on and now doesn't?
Has it been remapped and you think it's a fault?

Dyney i've only got the car (JDM Import) bout two or three months ago and i can't remember seeing the check engine light illuminates,

Until i've brought a owner manual in english two weeks ago.

But is there anyway that i could check to see if "check engine" light disconnected or remove or switch off before i remove the instruments panel to see if the bulb simply blown etc ?

Hello Mate
Like i told you at the weekend pop the dash pod out and check that the CEL light hasn't been disconnected by a dodgy car salesman.
The fact that your car is running double rich could point to a fault in the engine mangement system which would cause the CEL to come on.
I'm sure it isn't your air mass meter like you suggested as this would lean off the mixture if it starts playing up.
Have a quick check on the air filter make sure its not clogged up and restricting air flow.
Otherwise pop it in and ill run the diagnostics on it for you and check the codes if any.

Righto ! I've removed the cluster and found the bulb for the "check engine" light.

But the bulb is a LED's type lamp which is soldered on PCB which cannot tested by using low continuity tester.

So no luck there,

And the air filter is clean but not an genuine type air filter only aftermarket type from motor factor's company me think ?

ok, lets take another tacktick (sp?)

have you tried the 2 black connector below the dash ? connect them then turn on the ignition.

if that doesnt start the fans and put it into check mode then....

generate a fault !! unplug the MAF and try starting it ! it'll soon show up the CEL light :haha:

:haha: That was my next suggestion.
Create a fault and see if it comes on :D
