View Full Version : really odd idle
starts fine when cold but when starting once warmed it kinda wants to stall. goes from 1k revs to about 200 then back up to 500. noticed aswell that when sitting parked up the tune of the car is off beat. instead of a constant BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR its more like BRR, BRR, BRR, brrrrrr, br, BRR, BRR, BRR, BRR, brrrrrr, br, BRR. hope the description wasnt too technical lol

On a technical level, it sounds like the small brrrrrr is the problem
Have you checked for CEL codes?
lol. yup all running fine. gona check 2mrw to c if theres any split pipes
i know that sound, mine keeps doing it, when it wants to
sounds like the idle control valve, take it off give it a clean up, this way sort it for a whie or make it slighty better, or cure it totaly
mine behaved for about 8 weeks then started again so i then bought a new idle valve
can u walk me through cleaning it. was gona try it a while ago but didnt wanna **** it up. Noticed aswell that when it starts weird, when goin along there something wobbling in the engine bay. when pushing on the clutch there the sound and when goin over bumps. its REALY annoying and i cant find where it is. It even happen when shutting the car off. the engine judders of with a sound of a jibber-jabber
Group icv cleaning i think...............mine needs it :haha:
sounds gd lol

all around the exhaust(S) and around the headers too - which usually do it.
il have a look around and let ya know
checked all the heat shields and there solid. The sound seams to be coming from under the dash board, kinda gear box region
There are more heat sheilds on a Scoob than ...anyother car!!
there is one under the turbo and one round the up pipe that yiou can't get too (or even see !!)
Heat sheilds sound like "jibber-jabber" :haha:
The ISCV is a brown/beige lump on the inlet manifold infront of the intercooler on the right.
There are 2 screws that hold the top on.
Mark were the screws are in the slotted cap. remove the screws and the cap and carefully clean the cap with carb/brake cleaner.
Leave to dry and refit making sure you line it up with the marks you made :)
If your not confident get a garage to do it ;)
