View Full Version : Injectors??
Do you need to take the inlet manifold off to fit new injectors to a MY00 Classic?
I've got my new turbo & inlet pipe ready to fit & i know i need it off for that, but i'm getting some 550's in a few weeks and i looked at the old works manual & it says i need the manifold off to do them as well :2ponder:
Is it worth waiting till i get the injectors & doing the lot in 1 go?

nope. they come out without having to take it off. just make sure you lightly grease the o-rings when you put them back in and make sure they are seated properly.
i would do it all in 1 go, as its easier when you have some bits out the way (like inlet , header tank etc.
then the remap :D
Oh yes! :woohoo:
What Steve said :D
Vasaline works well as lub for the O rings :)
Might be worth doing the "parallel fuel rail mod" at the same time ;)
Just need a couple of T peices and some hose :)
Are you fitting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator as well?
Yeah, getting a package deal, Nismo 550cc injectors, Aeromotive Fuel pressure reg, 255 L/H pump and 4 hks spark plugs.
The part fitting i shouldn't have a problem with but i haven't got a clue how to do the fuel pressure or what to set it to? :2ponder:
Std fuel pressure is about 3.2 Bar with the vaccum pipe to the reg disconnected. There is a adjuster/nut on the top of the regulator :)
Sounds like a deal from Flat4online.... of so don't expect fast delivery.
It is, they are a little slow aren't they
The boost controller i got took 2 weeks
Not to worry still got to raise the £550 yet

Is there a diagram or description of how thats done i can look up anywhere?
Basically you cut the metal pipes that run between the 2 banks of injectors so yopu have 2 seperate rails. Then you T them together so they run in parallel :D
The problem with the std set up is that the fuel has to pass each injector inturn, so by the time it gets to the last one there may not be enough fuel and that bore will run lean
So splitting the feed to both rails at the same time avoids this.
Well that's the thinking behind it ;)

however, in that picture they are hardly equal lengths, which is what i'd like to see them as. i.e. in the middle.
That all looks a bit technical for me, i'm not a fan of cutting and chopping bits of my car, especially fuel lines. :nono:
How bad is it to leave them as is, running 550cc's and a TD05 18G ???
Not bad really.
It's just that if you are going to all that trouble and you have the inlet off you might as well do everything to help the fuel flow smoothly and equally :)
It's actually not that bad a job. It simplifies the fuel lines too as the std stuff runs all over tha place.
Have a look at mine at the next meet and I can show/talk you through it :)
I will get to a meet one day, i've had the car & been on this site for a year & never been to a meet
tip if you do do this flare the ends out on the cut fuel lines it will keep everything nice and tight so no leaks
